Event Information

The 14th Annual Northwest Florida Volunteer Firefighter Weekend has been scheduled for September 18-22, 2019.   Online Registration for all classes begin on June 1, 2019 by clicking on the "Registration Information" link below.  Online Registration will close on Thursday, September 19th at 6 pm CST.  Walk-in Registrations are welcomed during the Event but classes maybe limited. 

Check-in, lunches, and vendors will be located in the Student Services Center, Cafe area 1st Floor, of the NW Florida State College.  All of our classes will start at 8 am CDT and lunch by Firehouse Subs on Saturday and Sunday will be served from 11:45am till 1 pm.  

Participants will receive a T-shirt upon checking-in.  On the registration form, please indicate your T-shirt size on the Registration Form so we know what size to order for you. 

Highlights - 2019 NW FL Volunteer Firefighter Weekend

  • Wednesday thru Sunday
    ATPC 2140, Building Contruction for the Fire Service (Nutrition Center Dinning Room, 202-A N. Hwy 85, Niceville)
    The curriculum in this portion of the Fire Prevention Inspection Certification Program deals with building construction. Topics include identifying hazards from assault by fire and gravity, how building construction can influence fire spread, fire confinement or structural collapse, and many other life safety issues. This is not a building course per se, but rather a course to identify construction features and their hazards under fire conditions.

    ATPC 1810, Firefighting Tactics and Strategy II (Comfort Suites Conference Room, 148 W. John Sims Pkwy, Niceville) NEW

    The curriculum covers multiple company operations, logistics, strategy, use of mutual aid forces and conflagration control. The course is intended for officers who may be in command of fires and other emergencies involving close coordination and maximum use of large amounts of staffing and equipment. Typical tactical situations and case histories are given. The development of critical thinking skills is stressed.  NOTE: This course may require work to be done prior to and /or following attendance at the course. Students will be notified prior to the class. IS700 completion is required as a prerequisite. Part of Fire Officer I.  Prerequisite Firefighting Tactics and Stategy I.

     

    ATPC 1740, Fire Service Course Delivery (Holiday Inn Express, 106 Bayshore Dr, Niceville) NEW

    The curriculum draws from many recognized authorities in exploring the methods and mechanics of imparting information and adult learning principles. The course emphasizes techniques which have wide application in teaching situations, as well as devices for specific areas. Also stressed are measuring teaching effectiveness, the use of media and visual aids.

     

    S-130, S-190, L-180 (Jackson Gaurd Conference Room, 107 Hwy 85 North, Niceville)
    This is a 40-hour course that is designed to train firefighters in the basic fire behavior factors that will aid them in the safe and effective control of wildland fires, basic wildland firefighting training, and the human factors on the fireline.

    S330, Task Force/Strike Team Leader - 8 am till 5 pm; Wednesday thru Friday Only(Classroom location TBD (NEW)This course is designed to meet the training requirements outlined in NIMS: Wildland Fire Qualification System Guide, PMS 310-1 and the position taskbooks developed for the positions of Task Force Leader and Strike Team Leader. Most examples and exercises in this package are specific to wildland fire suppression, although some all-hazards exercises are included.

    2nd Skills Sign Off for FF I Task Book, 09/19 - 09/20 (Class location TBD) 
    This 2-day course will allow Florida  FF I students to complete their FF I Task Book for FF I Certificate of Completion.  For FF I Students only.  Complete set of NFPA compliant PPE (Bunker Gear & SCBA) required.

    Thursday Night - Firefighter Suicide Awareness, 09/13 (Locaton TBD)

    Come and join us on Friday evening for some fun.  Your sponsors/vendors will be available to answer your questions starting at 4 pm till 9 pm in the Student Services Center 1st Floor Dining Area.   

    Our Silent Auction will begin Friday afternoon at 4 pm and will end Sunday afternoon at 12:45pm.  Check out our Silent Auction page for a list of items that are available.  Silent Auction items will be located in the Student Services Center 1st Floor Dining Area in the Vendor/Concession area.  

    Check-in will begin Friday afternoon from 4 pm till 6:30 pm in the Student Services Building.  Saturday and Sunday check-in will be from 7:15 am till 8:15 am.  You will be able to pick up your class schedule at that time. 
     
  • Saturday Evening
    Banquet, 6 pm - 8:30 pm (Opening Ceremonies began at 6:30 pm CDT)
    Come and join us for a FREE banquet  along with door prizes.  Our catered Banquet by Carrabbas Italian Grill will be held in Parish Life Center at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church located at 1200 Valparaiso Blvd. in Niceville  from 6 pm till 8:30 pm.  By request from the Church, please do not arrive before 6pm.  Opening ceremony starts promptly at 6:30 pm..  Your sponsors will also be available to answer your questions.  Come early to enjoy our opening ceremony complete with "Pipe & Drums", Posting of the Colors, and the National Anthem.  Dress is casual.  You will want to be there!
